Minus Iag & Why My Camera Got Sweaty Hands Today
ok so i woke up at 3am thinking about 1520692 which is probably some stupid ui code from a defunct daviddディア app but whatever. i grabbed my camera and drove to this place at 2am because the weather forecast said 1.41°c and i’m addicted to subzero photo ops. guess what happened? my lens fogged up like a sauna in brussels and then froze 73% humidity does not play nice with anticipation.
pull up to the spot and it’s just this endless white nothingness. snow so deep it’s like someone dumped a glacier here. i tried taking a shot of a lone tree but my phone battery died at 1398506074 which i still don’t know what that number means. maybe it’s a local legend about a buried camera? who knows.
the weirdest part was the weather. i just checked and it’s… there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the teensy breeze is cold enough to make your cheeks red but not cold enough to matter. like why even bother?
if you get bored? well [minus iag] is just a short drive away. not sure who that is but i’m convinced it’s a reference to that abandoned mine entrance down the road. locals say if you put a coin in the river you’ll find gold. i didn’t. i did find this one weirdly aggressive snowdrift though.
oh and reviews? i heard that something a local warned me about. apparently the ice here is a trap. one guy told me it’s ‘too thin to support your dignity’ and i almost laughed ’til i slipped on a patch of black ice. oops. someone else said the sun rises at 6am but by then it’s too bright to see anything. i guess that’s why they call it ‘minus iag’?
here’s a map if you wanna find this place yourself.
i took a few shots but lighting was a mess. these images are from unsplash because my camera died:
p.s. if you’re into this vibe check out the local board for more fake warnings. and tripadvisor says the ice is ‘deceptive’ which is basically a yelp review. reddit has a thread about 1520692 being a secret code for a underground art collective. who knows.
anyway. next time i’m here i’m bringing hand warmers. maybe a scarf. and definitely not my trusty camera. apples don’t work here.
