Graffiti & Ghee: My Night in Bangalore
walking through the backstreets of bangalore at dusk, i could feel the city humming like a bass line on a cheap speaker. the sky was a bruised orange, and i just checked and it's...this sticky humidity, hope you dig that kind of thing. i’m a street artist, so i’m always hunting for fresh walls to tag, and tonight the alley behind the old cinema smelled like fried onions and diesel, perfect for a quick sketch.
my crew rolled in with a backpack full of spray cans, a busted battery charger, and a half‑eaten samosa that i swore was the real fuel. we dropped a fresh piece on the brick wall opposite the chai stall, and the colors popped like a neon pulse. someone told me that the old market on mg road still hides a secret mural that only shows up after midnight, so i kept my eyes peeled.
i popped a quick link to a local board for hidden spots: Hidden Bangalore Art Spots. also tossed a shoutout to a tripadvisor review that warned tourists about the “too many selfie sticks” vibe at the palace, but i thought it was just a rumor spread by the gatekeepers. the truth? the palace grounds are still dope at sunrise, but the crowd is wild. someone on tripadvisor warned that the palace can get crowded, check out the review here: Palace Crowd Tips.
if you get restless, nearby towns pop up in a quick hop, and i’ve heard that mysore’s night market is a whole other canvas for night owls. i grabbed a quick bite from a stall that served spicy masala peanuts, and the smell reminded me of the first time i sprayed my name on a subway tunnel back home. the vibe was raw, the crowd was a mix of college kids, old men playing chess, and a few tourists snapping photos with their phones on silent mode.
i just snapped a few shots of the spray paint drying, and i posted them on my gram with a caption that read: graffiti is the city’s heartbeat, even when the heartbeat skips a beat. i also embedded a map for the location so you can see exactly where the wall sits, right in the middle of the chaos:
i dropped three random unsplash pics because why not:
the colors kinda clash, but that’s the point, right? it’s like throwing a palette onto the street and letting the city decide.
i’ll be back tomorrow to see if the rain washes any of the paint away or if the monsoon decides to add its own splash. stay tuned, keep your cans handy, and remember: the city never sleeps, it just changes the beat.
