Florence, Italy: Lost in Leather & Lemon Groves

okay, so i'm still processing florence. it's…a lot. and my brain feels like a pasta dish left in the sun for too long. i just checked and it's...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. seriously, the humidity is clinging to you like a lovesick puppy. 1620760195 - that’s the number for the hostel i snagged. it’s a total steal. *Hostel Archi has some seriously cool communal spaces, and the staff are super welcoming.

i spent most of my time wandering, honestly. just getting gloriously lost in the labyrinthine streets. every corner revealed a new artisan workshop, a hidden courtyard overflowing with geraniums, or a tiny trattoria serving pasta that tasted like pure joy. i’m still trying to figure out where the best gelato is - someone at a cafe told me
Gelateria La Carraia is a solid bet, but i'm bracing myself for a long search.

i heard that the Uffizi Gallery is intense. someone told me that it’s overwhelming, but also worth it, like a really good, slightly chaotic art hangover. if you’re into art, definitely prioritize that. otherwise, just wander the streets and soak it all in. i saw a street artist doing some seriously impressive work near the Ponte Vecchio - the colors were incredible. i’m trying to capture some of it on my phone, but it’s not doing it justice.

the locals are… interesting. they’re definitely not your typical tourist crowd. i had a chat with an old woman selling flowers near the Duomo, and she warned me about the scooters - they’re a menace. “watch out for the little devils,” she said with a wink. i’m trying to navigate the city without getting run over by a scooter, which is proving to be a challenge. i also heard that someone told me that staying in the Oltrarno neighborhood is super authentic if you want to avoid the crowds. and the food? don't even get me started. everything is fresh and delicious.

i’m also obsessed with the leather markets. the smell! the colors! the bargaining! it’s a sensory overload in the best possible way. i might have accidentally overpaid for a small leather pouch, but hey, it’s a souvenir, right? i'm planning a day trip to
Siena next week - i heard the Piazza del Campo is absolutely stunning. and if you get bored, Tuscany is just a short drive away, with rolling hills and vineyards.

seriously, i’m already planning my return. florence has a way of burrowing under your skin and not letting go. i'm going to check out
The Florence Food Guide* before i leave to see if I missed anything. #florence #italy #travelgram #wanderlust #europe #citybreak #art #food #culture #lostinitaly
