Buenos Aires Brain Dump: 3668605 & 1170715594 - A Whirlwind!

okay, so. buenos aires. man. where do i even start? i landed yesterday, and honestly, it's like someone cranked the saturation up to 11. the numbers 3668605 and 1170715594 were flashing in my head the whole flight - don’t ask. just…energetic. and today? today is a sensory overload. the air smells like exhaust fumes and grilling meat, which, surprisingly, isn’t terrible. it's…distinctive? i just checked and it's…warm and humid, there right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

this city… it’s just moving. the people are… intense. there’s this constant hum of activity, a blend of frantic energy and lazy afternoons. i’m staying in Palermo Soho, which feels like a hipster haven, but with a distinctly south american twist. think vintage shops crammed next to artisan coffee bars, and more street art than you can shake a stick at. i'm definitely going to check out some of the murals - i saw a few glimpses already, and they’re seriously impressive. you can find awesome walking tours on TripAdvisor if you wanna get your bearings.

my first day was basically a blur of pastel-colored buildings, crumbling architecture, and the sheer volume of people. i wandered around Plaza de Mayo, which felt strangely…historic. saw the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace. someone told me that…the whole place has a weird vibe, lots of political history and… well, stuff. i also spent a solid hour just trying to navigate the subway. let's just say the signage could use some work. i heard that... the subway is a bit of a maze if you don’t know what you’re doing, so maybe download an offline map?

food-wise? wow. empanadas are a religion here. i've already consumed approximately six. and the mate… seriously, everyone is drinking mate. it’s this bitter herbal tea that they drink from a gourd with a metal straw. it’s… an experience. i'm attempting to master the pouring technique, with limited success. i grabbed some recommendations on Yelp - definitely check out some of the parrillas (grill restaurants).

the humidity is a beast. i'm pretty sure my hair is actively rebelling against me. i'm also constantly dodging stray dogs, which is a hazard of city life, i guess. if you get bored, [cities] are just a short drive away. i’m thinking of a day trip to Tigre - a delta region just outside the city. apparently, it’s really beautiful.

overall? buenos aires is chaotic, beautiful, and utterly captivating. it’s a city that grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go. i’m already feeling completely overwhelmed and utterly charmed. and the numbers? still floating around. maybe they're good luck. i'm going to try to find a good street artist to commission something - i saw some incredible pieces near Avenida Corrientes. you can find some cool local art on Etsy too, if you're into that. i'm off to find more empanadas. wish me luck.
