Berlin Breakdown: 2512862 & 1724974310 (and a whole lotta feels)
okay, so berlin. where do i even begin? i landed yesterday, and honestly, i’m running on fumes and a serious caffeine addiction. the numbers - 2512862 and 1724974310 - popped into my head right before i boarded. no idea why. maybe it's a code? a grocery list? honestly, who knows?
The weather? i just checked and it’s…a weird mix of crisp and cozy. they’re calling it “spring awakening,” which feels a little dramatic considering it’s still hovering around 10°C. the “feels like” is 9.1, so definitely layering. the pressure's at 1010, humidity’s a mild 51%, and the ground level is comfortably at 1002. but honestly, the air smells amazing - like damp earth and something vaguely industrial. not unpleasant, just…berlin.
so, i’m staying in Prenzlauer Berg. it’s pretty bustling, tons of little cafes and vintage shops. the neighbors seem…indifferent. a lot of people are rushing around, looking like they’re late for something important. if you get bored, Potsdam is just a short train ride away. someone told me that the flea markets are the best way to find unique souvenirs (or just weird stuff). i'm aiming for the Mauerpark market this weekend.
i've been wandering around, just absorbing the atmosphere. i’m a huge sucker for old buildings and hidden courtyards. i found this tiny little cafe tucked away, and the coffee was surprisingly good. seriously, a total lifesaver. i also stumbled upon a graffiti alley - some of the stuff was incredible. it's like the city is constantly telling a story, layer upon layer.
i heard that the best currywurst is actually from a street vendor near the *Holzmarkt. Apparently, it’s a local institution. Also, someone warned me about pickpockets in crowded areas; standard travel advice, i guess, but worth keeping in mind. i’m definitely going to explore the East Side Gallery - i’ve seen pictures, and it looks pretty powerful.
my plan? essentially wander. get lost. eat a lot of pretzels. check out some museums* (but only the ones that look vaguely interesting). and avoid thinking too hard about why 2512862 and 1724974310 keep popping into my head. maybe they're clues to some secret berlin treasure? probably not. but hey, it’s more fun to think that way, right?
