so here i am in altamira, and let me tell you, the heat is no joke. i just checked and it's 29.49°c with a feels-like of 34.71°c. hope you like that kind of thing. the humidity is sitting at 74%, so yeah, it's sticky as hell. but hey, that's part of the charm, right?

walking around, i couldn't help but notice the *concrete houses that seem to stretch forever. they're like the city's way of saying, 'we're here, deal with it.' and honestly, i'm here for it. the streets are alive with the sound of motorbikes and the occasional samba beat drifting from an open window. it's chaotic, but in the best way possible.

i overheard a local saying, 'if you get bored, belém and santarém are just a short drive away.' so, if you're feeling adventurous, those cities are worth a look. but for now, altamira's got me hooked.

food-wise, i hit up a local mercado and let me tell you, the açaí bowls here are next level. someone told me that the best ones are at a little stall run by a lady named maria. i haven't tried them yet, but it's on my list. also, restaurante do zé got a shoutout from a couple of tourists i met. they said the moqueca there is the real deal.

as for staying cool, i found this boteco where the caipirinhas are strong and the fans are stronger. it's the perfect spot to chill and watch the world go by. and if you're into nature, the amazon rainforest isn't too far off. i heard from a fellow traveler that amazonia national park* is a must-see, but you'll need a guide. safety first, folks.

overall, altamira's got this raw, unfiltered vibe that's hard to find elsewhere. it's not polished, but that's what makes it special. so, if you're up for a bit of adventure and don't mind the heat, this place might just surprise you.
