sneaking through the hidden corners of camp lejeune

okay, so here's the deal. i'm not even sure why i ended up in this part of north carolina, but the numbers 4483494 and 1840014653 kept popping up in my head like a bad earworm. maybe it's some kind of military code, maybe it's just my brain glitching from too much coffee. anyway, the weather here is surprisingly mild-checked it earlier, 24.03°c, feels like 24.13°c, humidity hanging around 63%. perfect for wandering without sweating through my shirt. i just hope you like that kind of thing.

i heard from a guy at a gas station that the real magic of camp lejeune isn't the base itself but the weird little pockets around it. like, there's this diner called "the greasy spoon" that supposedly serves the best biscuits and gravy in the state. someone told me that the owner used to be a navy cook, and now he just slings comfort food like it's a sacred duty. i'm not usually one for diner food, but the way he described it made me want to roll the dice.

if you get bored, jacksonville and wilmington are just a short drive away. jacksonville's got this weird mix of military town grit and southern charm, and wilmington? well, that's where all the film crews hang out. i overheard a rumor that a big netflix show is filming there right now, but who knows if that's true.

and then there's the beach. i mean, come on, it's north carolina-there's always a beach. someone said the best spot is this hidden stretch near mcas new river, but you have to know someone to get in. i'm still working on that part.

also, if you're into history, there's this weird little museum in town that's all about the marine corps. i heard it's kind of dusty and underfunded, but the guy who runs it is apparently a goldmine of stories. i might check it out just to see if he's as wild as people say.

anyway, that's my take on camp lejeune. it's not exactly a tourist hotspot, but that's kind of why i like it. if you're ever in the area, maybe grab a biscuit at that diner and tell them i sent you. or don't. whatever.
