Maple Ridge Mornings and the Art of Not Overthinking It

woke up to the sound of rain tapping on the roof like someone’s impatient fingers. it’s the kind of morning where your brain says “get up” but your blanket says “absolutely not.” outside, the temp was hovering around 7°c, feels like 7°c, which is basically nature’s way of saying “you’re not getting out of this one.” i just checked and it’s hovering around 7°c there right now, so if you’re planning to explore, layer up like you’re about to argue with a cold front. humidity’s at 72%, which means your hair’s either going to look like a lion’s mane or a sad wet noodle-no in-between. the pressure’s sitting at 1026 hPa, so i’m calling it: stable, moody, and ready to surprise you with a drizzle at any moment. if you get bored, vancouver and abbotsford are just a short drive away, and both have their own brand of chaos to offer. someone told me that the best coffee in maple ridge isn’t at a chain but at this tiny spot near the river where the barista remembers your name and your order before you do. i heard that the locals here have a love-hate relationship with the rain-they complain about it constantly but also get weirdly defensive if you dare to criticize it. it’s like rain is their moody teenager they can’t help but adore. anyway, here’s a map so you don’t get lost in the gray:

and because no post is complete without visuals, here’s what the area looks like when the clouds decide to take a break:

bridge during daytime
Gravel path beside a calm lake with mountains under cloudy sky
gray and white bird on brown tree branch during daytime

so yeah, maple ridge in the rain. it’s not glamorous, but it’s got a vibe. and if you’re into that kind of thing, you’ll probably end up loving it more than you expected.
