krovak is a rubbish heap of dreams and damp bread
i got here because some ad promised it's 'like stepping into a dream' and now i'm stuck in a place where the air tastes like wet wool and the locals speak in riddles. the weather here is that 8.07 degrees thing, which is technically warm but feels like being hugged by a fridge. i just checked and it's...there right now, hoping you like that kind of thing. if you get bored, the cities are just a short drive away, though i heard the roads are full of trucks that sound like they're trying to tell you a joke they don't know the punchline to.
someone told me the old pub has the best soup in the region, but others say it's just a sad booth where a guy serves broth from a chipped bowl. i saw a woman crying over a plate of pancakes last night, and another guy arguing with a squirrel about the meaning of life. if you're curious, check out the yelp for reviews that range from 'magical' to 'why am i here?'
the neighbors here are weird. one guy plays accordion at 3am, another keeps a flock of chickens in his front yard. i heard that if you ask nicely, they'll let you sleep in their attic, but i didn't trust them. the streets are narrow and noisy, and the silence is louder than a jet engine. i found a map online that claims to show the best spots, but it's probably a fake.
i took some photos of the place. here's a yellow flower field that looks like it's trying to hide from the rain, a woman standing outside a building that seems to be judging me, and a snowy landscape with two people sledding in the distance, even though it's not snowing. the images are from unsplash, so they might not be accurate.
there's a maps.google.com link here that shows the exact spot i'm at. it's 52.2304,-0.8938, which is probably a random coordinate generator's dream.
i'm not sure if i'll leave. the coffee is terrible, the people are strange, and the weather is winning. but maybe that's the point. if you're reading this, you should probably check the tripadvisor for the real deal. or maybe not.
