still can’t believe i landed here after dodging monsoon floods in jaipur. the air was thin and round, like someone had overinflated a balloon (pressure: 1005 hPa, which sounds way fancier than “meh”, right?). my laptop’s fan hummed louder than the goats downtown, which are always louder. if you’re a digital nomad who needs wifi at 3 a.m., just yell out “co-working space??” and a guy in a dhoti will appear, holding a router like god.

≠i had a meltdown at a chai shop called “the saffron cup,” which was the same place my laptop died. the owner, a guy who speaks seven languages including goat-whistle, handed me a card with a map scribbled on a banana leaf. turns out, the “budget hostel” sign was a trick. “each room has a view,” he said, like he’d just invented perspective. “but sleep here, sometime” i beg, “if you don’t mind seeing someone’s great-grandpa’s shoe collection under your bed.”

≠later, i found a “hiking review” scrawled on a bathroom stall: “bro didn’t clean the toilet. he’s still in it. true story.” but hey, the view of nabhi lake cinched it. “i just checked and the water’s doing this weird spiral thing,” some tourist admitted, and i realized she was right. like the lake had a tiny hurricane or something.

≠pro tip: don“tip the auto rickshaw guy “just because” once. i did. he gave me slower rickshaws for the next week and played “oye like it’s a stage,” which is how i got lost in the alleys and saw that stray cat in a tie.

≠neighbors? “if you get bored, delhi’s just a three-hour drive,” someone sneered. “delhi’s a dump,” said another guy chewing betel. they’re right. but i’m here for the tiny chaos.
