how oslo drips through a sweating browser tab

oslo is one of those places where the air hangs heavy like forgotten conversations. today’s 29°c feels more like 34°c, skin clammy against the keyboard. i haven’t left my apartment since dawn, mostly because the cobblestone streets outside are proving to be a relentless game of whack-a-mole with mosquitoes.

someone told me that the fjords here aren’t actually magical-turns out they’re just overpriced parking lots for ferries that never come. but hey, at least the alpenglow at sundown made my laptop glow too.

walking on uneven pavement with half a coffee left in a to-go cup, I overheard two guys arguing in a park. one claimed they’d rather trust a local Yelp reviewer about the best waffles (‘I’d go with the heavy sourdough batter, bro’) than a guidebook. the other muttered back, ‘guidebooks are jealous of fjords.’ didn’t clarify why.

if you’re here for adventure, bergenskjøtt (goat stew) and klippfisk (dried fish) are survival rations. try bæst for burgers, even though Yelp says it’s ‘overrated.’ it’s not. their fries taste like defiance.

hotel prices here are wild. tried booking something basic through Airbnb-ended up paying 30% more than the staff at the freacon hostel. at least the hostel had a sauna. shook hands with a danish backpacker there who swore oslo’s traffic is a government conspiracy.

edit: added a drunk map of every weird café I found. the rain started at 11:03 p.m., but the gods aren’t cruel-they just like surprises.
