the weird little town that stole my heart
so i landed in this tiny dot-on-the-map town after a 12-hour bus ride that felt like 36. the kind of place where the air smells like wet grass and the streetlights flicker like they're about to give up. i just checked and it's 9.93°C there right now, feels like 8.84°C with 81% humidity, so yeah-it's that damp, cozy chill that makes your bones ache in the best way. i had no plan, just a backpack and a weird feeling that i needed to be here. the main street is basically three cafes, a bakery that smells like heaven, and a shop that sells nothing but wool socks. i heard from a guy at the bus station that the best coffee is at the place with the broken sign-said it's run by an old couple who argue in three languages while they brew. i believed him. the map says it's here:
and honestly, i'd get lost here on purpose. the town square has a statue of some guy on a horse that's missing a leg, and someone told me it's been that way since the 1800s because the sculptor ran out of stone. classic. if you get bored, tirana and skopje are just a short drive away, but why would you leave this weird little bubble? the weatherās moody, the people are slow-moving, and the wifi is basically a rumor-but that's the charm. i overheard someone say the bakery's cinnamon rolls are āthe closest thing to love you'll find here,ā and i ate three just to be sure. hereās what the town looked like through my bleary eyes:
i'm already planning my next trip back. this place doesn't try to be anything-it just is, and that's enough.
