paris when you're just trying to find a decent coffee and a vintage jacket that doesn't scream 'i collected this from a dumpster'

it’s one of those days where the air’s that clammy thing where you feel like you’re walking through a soggy dream. i just checked and it’s… there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. i guess you do if you’re dressed like a soggy dream too. me? i’m rockin’ a flannel from thrift alice that smells like existential dread and lavender. clothes that tell stories, you know? or maybe they’re just accumulating dust. who knows.

last night i wandered into this tiny café on boulevard saint-michel-bolding here bo Saint-Michel-and overheard someone say the espresso machine here is a haunted relic. cursed? maybe. but the barista kept saying it’s just the beans. said he’d found some weird old batch in le marais. bolding again le marais-catch my drift? i didn’t believe him till i tried the ristretto. it tasted like someone discovered bitterness post-café au lait. total nightmare. or maybe genius? who am i to judge.

the neighbors here? let’s just say if you get bored, bolding perfumeries*-are just a short drive away. my neighbor’s young daughter keeps playing that weird accordion song at 3 am. i heard it through the wall. it’s like a funeral for bagels. or maybe a love song for bread. she’s probably doing both.

i heard that too. someone told me that the subway here has a ghost. not the fancy Spirited Away kind-just a guy in a trench coat who smells like stale croissants. at station chapellecarlo i swear i saw him. or maybe it was just my imagination. or maybe i’ve been sleep-deprived since december. probably the last one.

check out this spot on tripadvisor for the best baguettes in town: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187251-d1234567-Reviews-Hôtel_De_Grands_Serviables_Paris.html. yelp has a bunch of nonsense about a ‘mystical macaron’ place, but i’m just here for the rye bread. link to yelp: https://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=123456&find_loc=Paris. and for the vintage hunt, try this board: https://www.everydayvintage.com/Cheap-Vintage-Fashion-Guides/. don’t trust the ads-they’re all sponsored by budget travelers buying tour guides by mistake.
