Cartagena's Sticky Heat and My Digital Nomad Misadventures

woke up to the same sticky heat. i just checked and it's... there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. 34.39°c, feels like 34.2, humidity doing its best to remind you you're not in an air-conditioned bubble. pressure's low, like my motivation after 3am. sea level pressure, grnd level pressure - who cares? just know it's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk. if you get bored, nearby cities like santa marta are just a short drive away. someone told me that the local coffee shop has the best espresso in town, but i heard that from a guy who also swears by his crystal healing. i'm not saying it's bad, just... take it with a grain of salt. or maybe a whole shaker. reviews are like opinions here - everyone's got one. i heard that the famous street food market is a total tourist trap, but then again, i also heard that from someone who hasn't eaten anything in 3 days. take your chances.

*gear list (because i'm a digital nomad, not a minimalist):
- 2 laptops (one for work, one for pretending to work)
- 3 different chargers (because why have one when you can have three?)
- a backpack that's seen better decades
- a camera that's mostly for instagram
- a notebook filled with half-baked ideas
- a phone that's perpetually dying

pro tip: if you're gonna be out here sweating like a pig, invest in a decent fan. the ones they sell on the street are about as effective as a chocolate teapot.

overheard gossip: 'did you hear about the guy who tried to surf the waves and ended up surfing the local hospital's emergency room?' classic.

local vibe: it's loud, it's colorful, it's chaotic, and it's absolutely intoxicating. the air smells like salt, sweat, and something delicious cooking somewhere. the streets are alive with the sound of salsa music bleeding from open windows and the constant hum of conversation. it's the kind of place where you can wander for hours and still feel like you've barely scratched the surface.
