i just got back from brewster. and man, this place hits different when your camera gear is heavier than your luggage. the air here feels like someone left a wet towel wrapped around your head. i just checked and it's...that damp 8.6Ā°C cling to everything, hope you brought extra socks. humidity's at 91% - perfect if you're cultivating mold in your lens bag.


this whole trip started with two numbers scribbled on a bar napkin: 5144336 and 1840003477. turned out they were the population of some forgotten siberian town and a barcode for expired film. useless. but that's brewster - full of beautiful red herrings.

locals are... something else. someone told me the mayor used to be a mime and still communicates via interpretive dance during town hall meetings. overheard at the diner: "that antique store downtown? owner's hoarding 1840003477 vintage postcards behind a fake wall." probably lies, but i checked. there was a wall.

pressure's at 1006 hpa - feels like the sky's holding its breath. danbury and patterson are just short drives away if you need civilization. but why would you? brewster's got this weird energy. like the trees are plotting something.

shot a whole roll at *reservoir park* yesterday. mist swallowed the sunrise whole. felt-like temp was 6Ā°C but the light? buttery soft. perfect for portraits of confused-looking squirrels. heard the bakery's croissants are so good they'll make you question your life choices. tried one. confirmed.

if your gear gets soggy, hit up this camera repair spot - dude fixed my leaky lens cap with duct tape and wisdom. for food, the local diner serves pancakes thicker than your pride. and this hiking trail will make your thighs cry.

so yeah. brewster. where the mist eats your sandwich and the light makes everything look cinematic. even the dumpsters. bring a tripod and a sense of absurdity. you'll need both.
