okay so BH wasn't even on my radar until this co-working space in sao paulo sent me a cryptic email about their sister branch. i packed my carry-on, slapped on some sunscreen, and now i'm basically living off *pão de queijo and questionable wifi. the humidity here? i just checked and it's currently got this swampy cling-to-your-skin vibe going on right now, hope you're into that kind of thing. my laptop fan sounds like it's running a marathon in this heat.

this city's got these absurdly steep hills that make my daily walk to the nearest coffee spot feel like training for a half-marathon. speaking of caffeine, i found this place called CafƩ do ZƩ that serves this bitter-as-hell brew they call 'mineiro style'. the locals swear by it, but i swear i saw steam coming off my tongue after the first sip. not even kidding.

"last week some drunk guy told me the secret to BH's cheese bread is... wait for it...
boiling the cassava flour first and then letting it ferment in a clay pot for exactly 72 hours. might be nonsense, might be genius."

ended up crashing at this airbnb that smells faintly of fried onions and ambition. this listing promised 'high-speed internet' but my Zoom calls keep buffering mid-sentence - usually right when i'm trying to sound professional. the balcony's got this killer view though, if you ignore the stray cats plotting world domination.

if you get bored,
Ouro Preto is just a short drive away. took a bus there last weekend and saw more gold churches than i ever knew existed. the bus driver played the same fado song on repeat for three hours straight. i think he was trying to hypnotize us.

"heard a street vendor whispering about some underground bakery that only opens when there's a full moon. serves these moon-shaped pastries filled with sweetened condensed cheese. might be an urban legend, might be where i'll be found at 3am."

the food scene here is... intense. stumbled into this hole-in-the-wall near Mercado Central and tried this stew called
feijoada that had me sweating like i'd just run a marathon. someone told me the real* version uses pig ears and feet, which i'm choosing to believe are optional. also tried this juice called aƧaƭ na tigela - basically purple slurry with guarana powder. my brain still feels fuzzy three days later.
