aveline: a drummer’s diary in the rain

i’ll admit, waking up to 21.32°c felt like a villain’s backstory-too smooth for my taste. my kit’s gonna sweat through the leather straps by lunch. the humidity here is like a thick blanket someone forgot to zip up. it’s not just hot, it’s alive. like the air’s jealous of my cymbals.

때자들은 moss-covered trees, a creaky dock, and a village where everyone knows your name. i saw a kid fishing with a slingshot earlier. calm? no. but it’s got that weird, stretched-out rhythm of a place that doesn’t care about «normal».

someone told me that the local bar plays live drum covers every Thursday. i didn’t believe ’em till i heard a stranger yell ‘that’s my hometown groove, you bastard!’ from inside. turns out, the owner’s a former session player. now i’m curious if they’ll let me crash the next set.

i heard this place is leaking coffee. like, the kind that stains your shoes but somehow tastes better. wouldn’t surprise me.
bolded: the aveline market. buy spices here, not souvenirs. the guy selling dried mangoes keeps beatboxing while he stocks up. weird? yeah.

"if you need a break, the ocean’s 15 minutes away. just don’t tell the tourists it’s ‘that place with the questionable seafood,’"

deep? maybe. practical? no. but it’s true.

weather’s a vibe here. i just checked and it’s… still 21.32. same as when i kicked things off. hope you like that monsoon-soaked midnight.

"the neighbors are loud, but they’re family. last night, they played didgeridoo at 3am. now they’re apologizing with mango smoothies."

if you get bored, cities are just a short flight away. but why? this place has its own rhythm. the low-pressure 1008hPa? it’s like the air’s holding its breath.

p.s. check out this spot on TripAdvisor: “The Rhythm Nest””. it’s a beat-up van parked by a cave. claims to sell ‘accidental drums’-probably just PVC pipes. yelp has a spot called “Espresso Zen”. brewed coffee, no filter. worth it? i’m still drinking water. local board updates: “tomorrow’s a ska festival? probably not. ’-smells like graphene and weather."

"stay away from the dock at night. heard someone lost their dignity there. also, theGhosts?”

pro-tip: if you’re tone-deaf, this place will make you dizzy. if you play, it’ll steal your ego. either way, don’t lock your gear. saw a guy try that last week. the humidity did the rest.

"last thing i saw: a screenwriter filming a scene here. dialogue was just someone pretending to play drums. authentic? debatable. but the lighting was fire."

phew. maybe i’ll just sleep on a bench tonight. not that i need sleep. my brain’s already a 21.32°c fever dream.
