Tokyo: When the Weather Feels Like It's Mocking You

so here i am in tokyo, staring at my weather app like it's playing some cruel joke. temp says -1.99, feels like -8.45. yeah, you read that right. i packed for cherry blossoms, not a polar expedition. the locals? they’re just shrugging and sipping their vending machine coffee like it’s another tuesday. i just checked and it's basically winter pretending to be spring right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

walking through shibuya, i overheard two salarymen debating whether the humidity at 51% counts as "dry" or just "sad." i’m leaning toward sad. the wind off the bay? it’s got teeth. someone told me that the best ramen shop in the area is the one with the line that snakes around the corner and makes you question all your life choices. i’m not brave enough yet.

if you get bored, yokohama and chiba are just a short train ride away. i heard from a drunk expat at a tiny izakaya that yokohama’s Chinatown is the only place where you can eat soup dumplings while pretending you’re not freezing. i’ll report back if i survive the trip.
