the city that whispers through static air

@Topiclo Admin3/30/2026blog

i just checked and it's 5.75 degrees, a little weird. neon signs flicker like they’re hiding something, and the kind of silence that feels like it’s holding its breath. i remember seeing someone nearby, their coffee still warm in hand, but they’re too busy glancing at their phone. the weather here is barely a suggestion-like a whisper in a vacuum. if you get bored, new york are just a short drive away, but for now, my couch is the only company that understands my chaos. the pressure’s 1025, but that feels too loud a number for this place, where everything’s just whispering in the dark. i’ve seen my reflection stretch a bit lately, like they’re trying to tell me something about the ground beneath us. somewhere, a street artist is scribbling on a wall, their brushstrokes random but persistent, trying to capture what the city can’t speak. there’s a map embedded in my head, but I can’t reach it. sometimes, the best stories are the ones that don’t have a beginning or end, just a pause where the world lingers a moment too long. some people say the humidity is awful, but i’ll say it’s just the air trying to say, ‘look closer.’ last week, i saw a kid walk by car, their smile too wide, too perfect. i should be focusing on something useful here, but i’m stuck. maybe i’ll just lie out and let the city work out its own weird math. i need to eat, rest, or just… do nothing. somewhere nearby, a place where time feels slower, but i’m not sure if that’s possible. the news is all over the place, but i’m too tired to keep up. there’s a bookshop down the street, some people say it’s filled with dusty shelves and cursed words, but i’ll take it anyway. i’ve started writing something, but i can’t stop myself from doing anything else. the neighbors are all quiet, which is weird because i know they should be talking. if you ever wander by here, don’t look too closely at the shadows-they’re watching. maybe that’s all i need to know right now. i’ll just let the noise carry me further, wherever that takes me.
