sweat soaked wanderings in kampala

@Topiclo Admin4/2/2026blog

the heat hits you like a wet blanket the second you step out of the airport and you realize the city is cooking itself. i just checked and it's blazing like a grill, hope you like that kind of thing. if you get bored, the nearby towns are just a short drive away. someone told me that the old market still sells the best mangoes at midnight, and i heard that the rooftop bar still serves the cold brew even after the power cut. the streets are a mix of honking bikes and stray dogs that seem to know the rhythm of the city. i slipped into a tiny cafe that smells like burnt caramel and old books, and the barista whispered that the best view is from the top of the abandoned water tower, if you can find the hidden staircase.

Check out the TripAdvisor page for the museum before you go, and maybe peek at the Yelp listing for a hidden street food stall that locals swear by. there's also a lively thread on the local board discussion about weekend festivals, and you can read more on the Uganda Tourism site for official updates.
