Kyoto's Cool Whisper: A Botanist's Rainy Day Adventure

woke up to this...7.51°C, feels like 6.16°C, a cool, damp whisper on my skin. perfect weather for hiding from the world, or maybe just hiding from the tourists. i mean, who wants to be seen wandering around shinjuku in this? definitely not me. the humidity's at 45%, which is surprisingly bearable for a botanist who's spent too many days sweating over dead plants. the pressure's high, 1023, like the world's holding its breath. grnd level's 999, almost sea level, but way more interesting. anyway, i'm here, in kyoto, trying to find some peace and quiet, or at least a good matcha latte that doesn't taste like disappointment. the neighbors? if you get bored, kyoto and osaka are just a short drive away. but honestly, who needs that when you've got a city whispering secrets in the rain? someone told me that the bamboo forest near arashiyama is haunted by a botanist ghost who keeps misplacing her specimens. i heard that. drunk advice from a local, probably. reviews? well, tripadvisor says 'must see' but yelp whispers 'overrated'. i'm just here, camera in hand, trying to capture the vibe before it changes. the weather's doing its thing right now, hope you like that kind of thing. oh, and if you're looking for a place to hide, check out the hidden gardens near gion. someone mentioned them on a local board. i'll link it later. for now, i'm just soaking it all in, literally and figuratively. the rain's a good excuse to stay in and sketch some plants. maybe i'll find that ghost. or maybe i'll just find a good cup of coffee. either way, it's messy, it's human, and it's kyoto.
