so i landed in kremenchuk with nothing but a backpack, a half-charged phone, and the vague hope that someone would feed me. the numbers 693457 and 1804490050? no idea-maybe they’re bus routes, maybe they’re my destiny. who cares. what i do know is that the weather here is a whole mood: 2.6°c, feels like -0.56°c, 92% humidity, and pressure at 1019. basically, it’s the kind of cold that makes your nose hairs freeze mid-breath. i just checked and it’s basically a fridge outside right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

anyway, i wandered into what looked like a normal supermarket but turned out to be a soviet-era time capsule. the shelves were half-empty, the lights flickered like they were auditioning for a horror movie, and the cashier gave me the kind of look that said, “you’re not from around here, are you?” i heard that the best place to grab a proper meal is the central market, but honestly, i was too scared to ask for directions. instead, i bought a bag of mystery meat and a loaf of bread that felt like it could survive a nuclear winter.

if you get bored, poltava and dnipro are just a short drive away, but honestly, kremenchuk’s got enough quirks to keep you entertained. someone told me that the river port is haunted by the ghost of a sailor who died in the 1940s, but i didn’t stick around to verify. i’m not that brave.
