bentonville: the kind of town that surprises you

okay, so i landed in this little corner of northwest arkansas and i wasn't sure what to expect. i mean, 4101260? that's the population, right? felt more like a friendly neighborhood that got its own zip code. the numbers 1840013319 kept popping up on my phone-probably some weird glitch or a sign i should get more sleep, but hey, it felt like a weird omen for the trip.

anyway, the weather was doing its thing: 16.07°c, but it felt like 15.43°c, so basically sweater weather with a side of indecision. pressure was sitting at 1018, humidity at 65%, and the sea level matched the pressure-weird coincidence or just my phone being extra? either way, it wasn't raining, and that's all i cared about.

first stop: crystal bridges museum of american art. i heard from a barista (let's call her sarah) that the architecture alone is worth the trip. she said, "it's like the building is trying to hug the forest." i believed her. turns out, she was right. the whole place feels like a love letter to art and nature.

next, i wandered downtown. someone told me the moma's meatball was the best sandwich in town. i didn't fact-check that, but i did eat it, and yeah, it was pretty great. the place had this old-school neon sign that made me feel like i'd stepped into a movie set. if you're into vintage diners, this is your spot.

here's the thing about bentonville: it's small enough to feel cozy but big enough to surprise you. i overheard a couple of locals at a coffee shop talking about how the town's changing fast. "it's like we're all still figuring out what we want to be when we grow up," one of them said. that stuck with me.

if you get bored, fayetteville and rogers are just a short drive away. i didn't make it to either, but i heard rogers has a killer taco truck scene. maybe next time.

one last thing: the people here are ridiculously nice. like, "how are you today, friend?" nice. it's either genuine or they're all in on some town-wide hospitality competition. either way, it works.

so yeah, bentonville. not what i expected, but exactly what i needed. go see for yourself.
